Dangerous Goods Class 5 | Oxidizing Substances and Organic Peroxides

DG Class 5 , Oxidizing Substances and Organic Peroxides, HAZMAT CLASS 5

Hazmat class 5 Oxidizing Substances and Organic Peroxides Oxidizers, this DG class is divided in two divisions [5.1,5.2]. Division 5.1 is Oxidizers which are not necessarily combustible in themselves, but can yield oxygen and in so doing cause or contribute to the combustion of other materials.  While division 5.2 is Organic peroxides which are thermally unstable and may exude heat whilst undergoing exothermic autocatalytic decomposition. Additionally, organic peroxides may be liable to explosive decomposition, burn rapidly, be sensitive to impact or friction, react dangerously with other substances or cause damage to eyes.

Further explanation of each single division is provided blew:

Division 5.1
Oxidizing Substances.

Oxidizing substances are substances which, in them-selves are not necessarily combustible, but may generally cause or contribute to the combustion of other material by yielding oxygen. Such substances may be contained in an article.
